Out of Town Assessments for Applicants outside the National Capital Region
If you live farther than 40 km from the Algonquin College campuses in Ottawa, Pembroke, or Perth, you may request to complete your assessment through a suitable test site in your local community. In most cases, the test centre of a college, university, or post-secondary learning centre is accepted by Algonquin College as a suitable test site. Algonquin Colleges does not typically allow applicants to complete assessments in a high school or library. You can view a listing of colleges and universities within Ontario here.
It is your responsibility to contact potential test sites where you live and ask if they are willing to administer a web-based assessment to you for Algonquin College. Many colleges and universities have assessment centres that will offer this service for a fee.
Please note:
- Some colleges and universities in Ontario do not offer testing services, so you will need to call the college or university in your local community to determine if testing services are available.
- Not all testing centres are able to offer web-based assessments, so you will need to call ahead to inquire.
Steps To Writing An Out Of Town Assessment:
1. Contact the college or university testing centre in your local community and ask if they are able to proctor an Algonquin College assessment for you. If your assessment is online, ensure that the testing centre has online testing facilities available.
2. Gather contact information for the supervisor at the college or university test centre who will be invigilating your assessment. You will need to obtain the following information:
- Supervisor’s full name
- Supervisor’s position
- Supervisor’s email address
- Supervisor’s phone number
- Institution name
- Institution address
3. Make a request to complete an assessment at an approved testing centre in your community through your Algonquin College student information system (ACSIS) account. Follow the instructions for “Booking an Assessment – Book an Assessment at a Remote Location.”
4. The Algonquin College Test Centre will verify the suitability of your test site and send separate assessment administration information to you and your supervisor upon successful processing of your assessment fee. Please allow 10 days for processing of your request.
5. Once your request is approved, contact the supervisor specified in your request to schedule an appointment for your assessment.
