Can I schedule an appointment to talk to someone about my resume and job search strategies?
Yes, you can schedule an appointment with one of our Employment Officers. Please call 613 727-4723, ext. 7171, or email employment@algonquincollege.com.
How do I find a job on campus?
On-campus employment is available under two primary programs: CSEP and OWSP. You can check out our job boards for CSEP/OWSP jobs. Information about CSEP or OWSP is available from Financial Aid.
You can also visit the departments you are interested in working for and ask them if they will be hiring. The areas that do the most student hiring are the Marketplace Food Court and the Bookstore.

Where are the jobs posted?
All jobs are posted on the boards outside of room C226 (Ottawa), and online through ACSIS.

Yes, we have a variety of brochures in Rm. C226 (Ottawa) to get you started. View résumé-writing tips and samples. Once you have prepared a resume, you can call 613 727-4723, ext. 7171, to book an appointment with an Employment Officer to review your resume or visit our drop-in service on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
Where can I volunteer on campus?

Can I get help with my resume?
Yes, we have a variety of brochures in Rm. C226 (Ottawa) to get you started. View résumé-writing tips and samples. Once you have prepared a resume, you can schedule an appointment with an Employment Officer to review your resume or visit our drop-in service on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. How long can I remain active with the Online Graduate Referral Service?
You can remain active with the Online Graduate Referral Service for a 16-month period (four months before you graduate and 12 months afterward). Other services are available if required.
I am an international student and I am about to graduate. How do I find employment in Canada?
Once you graduate from your program, you must apply for a work permit. You must do this within 90 days of receiving written confirmation (for example, a transcript or an official letter) from your institution indicating that you have met the requirements for completing your academic program. You are welcome to register with OGRS and make an appointment with an Employment Officer for résumé-writing and job-search strategies. Further information about work visas is available at the International Education Centre. Or, you can visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Will you assist me in preparing for a job interview?
Certainly! Come in and meet with an Employment Officer, who will show you examples of typical interview questions, as well as questions for the type of job for which you are applying. We also conduct mock interviews to help you prepare. You can also use our Optimalresume application on our website to build a virtual mock interview.
Can you assist me with my job search?
Yes. One way is to register with the Online Graduate Referral Service and we’ll refer your resume to employers who contact us looking to recruit graduates from your field of study. You can also meet with an Employment Officer on campus to discuss job search strategies. Please contact 613 727-4723, ext. 7171 or employment@algonquincollege.com for an appointment.
How do I register with your service?

Our services are offered free of charge.

When do students graduate?
Depending on their program of study, students finish in the spring (end of April), summer (end of August), or fall (end of December).
Do you have a Job Fair on campus?

Do you have a list of graduates available to work?
Post your job opportunity
Once you have posted your full-time position or contract, an Employment Officer will match your employment requirements against graduates’ skill profiles listed on our Online Graduate Referral Service database. Full-time opportunities are also shared with the relevant college departments. Part-time employment opportunities are posted online and in hard copy on our job boards; however, the matching service is provided for full-time employment opportunities only.
Can I post my job directly with the appropriate department on campus?
All full-time or full-time contract positions posted with Student Employment Services are forwarded to the relevant college department(s).

What is the difference between “start date” and “apply-by date”?
The start date is the date you would like your new employee to begin work. The apply-by date is the deadline to receive résumés before you begin your selection process.
