Counselling for Aboriginal Students
The Aboriginal Counsellor, who often takes part in Mamidosewin Centre events, is available for professional and discreet counselling services in a private office in the Counselling Centre. These services are available for all Aboriginal students with academic or personal concerns. Drop by for a visit or make a confidential appointment.

Aboriginal Student Success Specialist
Services include:
- Support to students with academic concerns.
- Information on, or referrals to, the following: community services, personal counselling, career planning and employment information
- Information about Aboriginal bursaries, scholarships, student loans, and funding for First Nations, Status, non-Status, Inuit and Métis students.
- Refer out-of-town students to potential accommodation and day-care.
- Weekly Lunch & Learn Activities to round out your college experience.
- Work with students in areas such as time-management and study skills

Cultural & Social Activities
The Mamidosewin Centre provides a variety of events for Aboriginal students
- Elder visits, traditional teachings, talking circles and ceremonies
- Monthly potlucks, feasts and seasonal celebrations
- Access to sacred medicines and morning smudge circle
- Cultural celebrations (Louis Riel Day, Inuit Celebration, etc.)
- Drum circles, craft workshops facilitated by students or local artists
- Community notice board for Aboriginal events in Ottawa
- Movies, music and game nights
- Aboriginal – Intramural sports teams (basketball, floor hockey, badminton, etc.)
