CSD AT Lab
The CSD AT Lab is a quiet, safe and respectful academic working environment for students with disabilities. You can find more Accessible Work stations, Lab Monitors, an AT Loaning Library, Transcription Services and the Assistive Technologists in the CSD AT Lab.
Accessible Workstations
Workstations in the CSD lab include a computer on a height-adjustable desk, a monitor attached to an articulated support arm, high contrast keyboard, AT software packages for reading, writing, planning, magnification, screen readers, etc. Workstations may have other software and hardware like large monitors, scanners, and joysticks. Workstations may vary depending on the needs of the students using the lab.
Lab Monitor
Lab monitors can help with your basic computer needs, assist with transcription and the loaning library. Lab monitors are able to book you an appointment to see an Assistive Technologist.
AT Loaning Library
You can borrow Assistive Technology from the CSD AT lab to try the technology to see if it meets your needs.
Transcription Service
The goal of the Transcription service is to help you get text in the format that you need, whether it be Braille, MP3 or some other format.

Assistive Technology Available (Ottawa Campus)
Assistive technology software packages have been installed on the College network. Talk to your Counsellor or your Assistive Technologist if you need one or more of these software packages installed in your classroom:
• Kurzweil 3000 – Document Reader
• Zoomtext – Screen Magnification with Reading
• JAWS – Screen Reader
CSD AT Lab Rules
The CSD AT Lab is intended to be a comfortable, quiet and safe working environment for academic use. The following rules apply in the lab:
• Priority use of a specific workstation shall be granted to a student who needs to use adaptive software or hardware on that workstation.
• Only software provided by the College is to be used in the CSD AT Lab.
• Students using audio for reading and/or speech technology, course material, accommodations, etc., are asked to bring in their own headsets.
• Students must adhere to the Algonquin College computer use policy.
